Wadiz, a lifestyle design crowdfunding platform, announced on the 2nd that the 'Big Three' of '2023 First Half Crowdfunding Trends' are 'Fashion', 'Food', and 'Home Living'.
Wadiz's total number of funding projects opened in the first half of 2023 reached 7,294, a 143% increase compared to the same period last year. By number of openings, 'Fashion & Accessories', 'Food', and 'Home Living' topped the rankings as the Top 3 categories.
In the top 10 popular search keywords among Wadiz users, leisure-related search terms such as 'camping', 'tent', 'luggage', and 'backpack' were prominent, indicating a surge in demand for camping and travel due to the endemic period.
Anime official merchandise for 'Suzume's Lockdown' and 'Your Name', both highly popular in Korea, drew attention with 16,831 supporters participating and raising 700 million won, becoming a hit product of the first half.
Additionally, 'Space Wadiz', an offline experience space operated by Wadiz in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, was visited by over 60,000 visitors during the first half alone. Foot traffic increased significantly through various project-themed exhibitions, from the collaboration pop-up store between fashion brand 'Mindbridge' and local cultural space 'Childdrive-in' to limited-edition goods from 'Haribo Living'. In particular, the global SPA brand 'ShopSida' pop-up store, which operated in July, saw approximately 40,000 visitors during the two-week period, gaining buzz on social media as a popular photo spot through word-of-mouth.
A Wadiz representative stated, "As outdoor activities increased, fashion and leisure-related funding projects gained attention, and visitor numbers to 'Space Wadiz' for trendy brand experiences also grew significantly," and added "In the second half, Wadiz will continue to create a platform for both makers and supporters to challenge and support each other both online and offline."
