Life design funding platform Wadiz announced that the 'Wadiz x Makuake Special Briefing Session' was successfully concluded at Wadiz headquarters in Pangyo on the 11th.
The event was attended by Shin Hye-sung, CEO of Wadiz, and Ryotaro Nakayama, CEO of Makuake, Japan's largest crowdfunding platform company, and held a talk concert on the theme of funding companies entering the Japanese market.
The event proceeded in order of △CEO talk concert between Wadiz CEO Shin Hye-sung and Makuake CEO Nakayama △Makuake briefing △Wadiz x Makuake fast-track and global partner service introduction. In the talk concert between the two CEOs, discussions were held about the current state of the Japanese crowdfunding market and domestic makers'
market entry strategy.
Makers at Wadiz with funding results of 20 million won or more and project ratings meeting certain conditions are introduced through 'fast-track' program which assigns a dedicated Makuake Korea office manager and proceeds with priority project review through Wadiz recommendation, and when listing on Makuake, 'Wadiz Global Partner
Service' that assists in creating Japanese detailed product pages and videos was explained as services that can resolve difficulties makers face when expanding globally.
More than 100 domestic startups and SMEs attended, and showed high interest as the first-come-first-served recruitment closed early one week before the event. Among the makers who attended the briefing, fashion and accessories (35%) were the most common field, followed by tech appliances (15%), home living (15%), and beauty (15%). Additionally, the
Wadiz funding projects conducted by these makers reached a cumulative 1,000 or more.
Shin Hye-sung, CEO of Wadiz, said "We planned this briefing with Makuake to support domestic makers who verified market viability through Wadiz funding results in entering the Japanese market," and added "Through strategic partnerships not only with Japan's Makuake but also with various global platforms and distribution channels, Wadiz makers will serve as a bridgehead for overseas market penetration."
Meanwhile, Makuake is a crowdfunding-based fan purchase platform company representing Japan, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in December 2019, and has successfully completed projects totaling approximately 8 billion yen (approximately 724 billion Korean won). Through an MOU signed with Wadiz in 2018, the company is conducting various collaborations to provide global market entry opportunities for funded success companies in each country.
