Wadiz, a life design funding platform, announced on the 18th that ‘Hanwoo’, ‘Yakgwa’, and ‘Shine Muscat’ ranked among the Big 3 as a result of opening this year's Chuseok special funding.
Based on the number of funding opens by category, ‘Food’ including meat and fruit accounted for the largest share at 62%, followed by ‘Health Functional Foods (15%)’ such as red ginseng and vitamins, ‘Beauty Products (11%)’ such as skincare and body products, and ‘Other (Home Living, Leisure)’.
In the ‘Food’ category, three items ‘Hanwoo’, ‘Yakgwa’, and ‘Shine Muscat’ accounted for a significant 34% share.
Following ‘Hanwoo’, which typically has high preference as a holiday gift, the fruit item ‘Shine Muscat’ stood out by surpassing apples and pears.
In particular, ‘Yakgwa’ among traditional Korean sweets exceeded 1,570% of the funding goal amount, showing hot popularity. Recently, as a 'Hallmennial (Grandmother+Millennial)' sentiment trend has swept through younger generations seeking traditional snacks, it appears to have influenced this year's Chuseok gift trends. In addition to ‘Yakgwa’, ‘Gotgam’ (dried persimmon) paired with nuts and cream cheese has also increased noticeably.
This year, ‘Salt’ is also gaining popularity as a Chuseok gift. The ‘Mineral Salt’ presented through funding on Wadiz garnered attention by achieving 2,150% of the funding goal.
A Wadiz official stated, “Because we always hold special events one step ahead considering the reward period after funding, you can read seasonal trends first on Wadiz,” and added, “We look forward to your interest in various special events such as camping and leisure scheduled after Chuseok.”
