Wadiz (CEO Hye-sung Shin, www.wadiz.kr) announced that it is creating a healthy crowdfunding ecosystem based on a self-regulation system built together by makers and supporters.
Wadiz has been operating a "Report" feature on the project detail page since 2020. Users can directly report issues such as false or exaggerated advertising, intellectual property rights infringement, and policy violations, and the platform reviews these and takes necessary measures such as requesting modifications or hiding content.
Since its introduction in 2020, a cumulative total of more than 11,000 reports have been received, and more than 9,400 users have participated in reporting. Over 99% of the received reports have resulted in actual resolution through modification requests or content hiding. Among the types of reports, intellectual property rights infringement accounts for approximately 29% and is one of the major types.
Recently, not only supporters but also makers have been actively participating. Images with similar shooting angles or production methods, and photos or videos directly produced by creators are often difficult to judge by technical detection alone, making the issue-raising by makers—who best understand the creative works—an important supplementary role.
In fact, in one skincare crowdfunding project, a maker discovered and reported a case of unauthorized use of images from a competing brand's detail page, and the project deleted the relevant images and provided guidance on the measures taken through updates.
In another household product project, a maker discovered and reported a case where a similar project name and representative image of an existing brand were used. In this process, Wadiz guided the consultation of professional organizations such as the Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency and the Korea Copyright Commission for more objective judgment, and reviewed the related matter.
Wadiz is strengthening its operational capabilities by utilizing the "Full Process AI Monitoring" that has been operating since April and the reporting system together. AI analyzes project content, reward composition, and community reactions, while the reporting system complements the areas that AI may miss. Through weekly transparency reports, it discloses operational status and major action cases, and continues to enhance review standards.
Hee-eun Heo, COO (Chief Operating Officer) of Wadiz, said, "Crowdfunding is an industry that grows based on trust. Wadiz is combining AI technology and user participation to build an ecosystem where makers and supporters create trust together, moving beyond a structure where the platform manages unilaterally. We will continue to strengthen transparency and autonomous self-regulation systems to create an environment where healthy challenges can continue," she added.
