Recovery of disaster-stricken areas and support for disaster victims following heavy rains that occurred on the 8th are leading to crowdfunding initiatives.
Wadiz, a life design crowdfunding platform, announced on the 16th that it will conduct an 'emergency relief funding' campaign in which it will donate the full amount of fundraising to the 'Hopeful Bridge National Disaster Relief Association' to help with recovery efforts in flood-affected areas.
The funding campaign opened on the 11th as supporters and Wadiz came together to share their intentions to deliver donations to neighbors affected by flooding. In addition to direct contributions, Wadiz will donate an additional 2,022 won per share on Facebook, which is a key feature. The collected funds will be used for recovery efforts in flood-affected areas and support for disaster victims through the 'Hopeful Bridge National Disaster Relief Association'.
Separately from the relief funding, Wadiz will waive platform intermediary fees for direct support of affected makers. The initiative targets approximately 100 teams in the agricultural products, honey, eggs, and livestock sectors that are preparing or conducting fundraising campaigns. Wadiz will accept applications from makers affected by flooding until the 28th and waive platform intermediary fees. In cases where projects are unavoidably canceled, cancellation penalties and fundraising refund fees will also be waived.
A Wadiz representative said, "Through the empathy and photo reports of many people, we were able to prepare and open the emergency relief funding immediately," and added, "Through crowdfunding, we aim to participate in helping our neighbors and families affected by sudden heavy rains recover their daily lives."
The Hopeful Bridge National Disaster Relief Association is a purely private relief organization and statutory relief body established to help neighbors struggling with sudden disasters and catastrophes. Donation transfers and usage details will be disclosed through news updates.
Meanwhile, Wadiz launched the in-house social contribution team 'Wadiz wa' in November of last year, starting with donations of approximately 11 million won through a funding project supporting the independence of unmarried single-parent families. In December, it conducted a 'special fundraising event for products made by people with disabilities' to create jobs for the disabled, and in March of this year, it made donations of approximately 15 million won through emergency relief funding to support the 'Ukraine War' and 'Gangwon Province wildfire damage,' continuing its social contribution efforts.
