Popular content IP is being reborn through funding, creating continuous added value after the drama airs.
Wadiz, a lifestyle design funding platform, announced on the 5th that it has launched ‘Woo Young-woo Official Merchandise’ created by Wadiz Makers based on the IP of ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo,’ 2022’s best global K-drama with AceStory.
This ‘Woo Young-woo Official Merchandise’ is characterized by being uniquely available only on Wadiz as a collaboration between a popular content IP and a funding platform. Following over 7,100 pre-notification sign-ups, after the funding opened, it ranked 1st in real-time rankings and then achieved 100 million won in funding from approximately 1,300 supporters in just 20 minutes, drawing concentrated attention.
The Woo Young-woo merchandise, which has surpassed approximately 200 million won to date, focused on conveying a sense of realism as if the emotional impact of the drama has been seamlessly transferred to everyday life. From LPs and sheet music books containing the drama's OST, to a whale body pillow that decorated the protagonist Woo Young-woo's room, whale-shaped key rings, embroidered patches, sleep masks, diaries and pens, tumblers, and other vivid merchandise, it is targeting fans who have been devoted watchers of the drama.
This funding is also meaningful in that it leverages popular IP to expand the stage for small and medium-sized makers' activities in a mutually beneficial manner. ‘Soo Won Content,’ a character merchandise specialist maker at Wadiz that produced the Woo Young-woo merchandise, stated, “It was an opportunity to meet fans’ needs by launching trendy IP as merchandise at the right time,” and added, “We hope that through collaboration with Wadiz, we can become a catalyst for introducing more Korean creators to the world.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ merchandise funding continues on the Wadiz homepage until September 26th. A special pop-up event can also be experienced until the 18th at ‘Wadiz Space,’ Wadiz’s offline funding experience shop in Seongsu-dong.
