Two leading platforms representing domestic crowdfunding and webtoons came together with the first IP collaboration amid steep growth in content funding.

Wadiz, a lifestyle design funding platform, announced on the 13th that it will launch a special funding exhibition featuring a total of 5 popular IPs in collaboration with Naver Webtoon, the largest webtoon platform in Korea, including ‘True Beauty’ ‘Yumi's Cells’ ‘I Wish You Were Me for Just One Day’ ‘Tiger Oppa’ and ‘Livid Diary’.

This project marks Naver Webtoon's first special exhibition featuring multiple IPs on a funding platform. The exhibition reflects the growing trends in the content funding market. In the first half of this year, the total fundraising amount in the content funding sector, including e-books and characters opened on the Wadiz platform, has grown more than twice compared to the same period last year.

The joint special exhibition by Wadiz and Naver Webtoon is characterized by proceeding with product commercialization using IPs that are global bestsellers and steady sellers of Naver Webtoon. ‘Yumi's Cells’ (cumulative 3.4 billion views) and ‘True Beauty’ (cumulative 5.5 billion views), which are being serialized in 8-10 languages including Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese, have gained significant popularity by expanding into Tving and TVN original dramas, animations, and games. The lineup was composed by discovering new makers that fit the 5 webtoon IPs, along with makers who have successful experience on Wadiz.  

A total of 22 products were created through funding, including Yumi's Cells (hooded blanket, long pillow, flat cushion, etc.), True Beauty (eyelash curler, water peeling machine), I Wish You Were Me for Just One Day (incense stick, necklace and earring set, card game, etc.), Tiger Oppa (body pillow, golf drive cover, passport case, etc.), and Livid Diary (electric cushion, quince paste, phone grip, etc.), which are characterized by capturing the concepts and images from the webtoons.

A Wadiz IP team official said, "By expanding Wadiz's content IP that started with Paper House to webtoons, we have provided makers with more diverse licensing business opportunities," and added, "We are preparing a second special exhibition starting from the end of this year, and we plan to continue expanding the webtoon IP funding market that will bring new brand experiences to fans through merchandise and more."

Meanwhile, the Wadiz and Naver Webtoon special exhibition will begin full funding on the 13th and can be experienced directly at the offline funding experience shop ‘Wadiz Space’ in Seongsu-dong until November 6th.
