Idea products that expand the role of automobiles beyond mere transportation to become ‘new everyday spaces’ have been unveiled through funding. Lifedesign funding platform Wadiz announced on the 21st that it has launched 11 types of automotive lifestyle appliance IP products that were born from collaborative ideas with Wadiz makers and Hyundai Motor through funding.
The collaboration between Wadiz and Hyundai Motor is the first of its kind, beginning this year in January with the ‘Fanz Maker’ program. An IP intermediary program that connects Wadiz makers with technology and ideas with popular IPs with fandoms, creating new and innovative products. It attracted attention particularly as a collaboration with the automotive industry, which is considered to have high barriers to entry for small and mid-sized brands even when interested in IP business.
This collaboration is significant in that a major IP in the automotive industry and a funding platform characterized by uniqueness and trendiness joined forces, supporting the opportunity and process for small makers' technological capabilities to be realized as products. Eleven products from seven makers were ultimately selected, applying bonus points for compatibility with ‘Ioniq 5’ launched last year as well as the ‘Ioniq 6’, which is currently in actual delivery from September following 40,000 pre-orders, and eco-friendly products.
Through this funding, Wadiz is expected to become the first channel to experience lifestyle items for Hyundai Motor's Ioniq lineup. Additionally, at the offline funding experience shop ‘Space Wadiz’ in Seongsu-dong, special exhibitions will be arranged together with ‘Ioniq 5’ and ‘Ioniq 6’ so that funded products actually mounted on automobiles can be directly experienced.
Including idea products such as ‘Smart OLED Viewer’ with Samsung UHD display applicable to headrest mounting, rechargeable ‘Smart Table’, and ‘Wireless Cooler’ that keeps beverage temperatures cool inside vehicles, as well as ‘Mini Beam Projector’ and ‘Wireless Vacuum Cleaner’ that enhance convenience inside vehicles, and ‘Power Strip’, ‘3-Step Car Camping Topper’, ‘Lantern Inverted Auto Umbrella Cum Lantern’ for ‘car campers’ who prefer car camping, various lifestyle items that can demonstrate diverse lifestyles through electric Ioniq are planned to be exhibited.
An Wadiz IP team representative stated, “This funding is characterized by being composed of idea products for all automobiles pursuing ‘new space expansion’, including the electric vehicle Ioniq,” and added, “We plan to continue collaboration with Hyundai Motor, including expanding to official Ioniq accessories in the future, and plan to discover and support many small and mid-sized makers with technology and ideas to enter and grow in the IP business.”
Meanwhile, the Wadiz and Hyundai Motor funding special exhibition will begin online from the 13th, and the special exhibition at Space Wadiz with ‘Ioniq 6’ can be experienced from the 25th through November 13th.
