Ten best makers, who garnered attention as standout performers in the 2022 funding market, were recognized.
Life design funding platform Wadiz announced on the 29th that it successfully held the '2022 Special Year-End Maker Day' on the 28th in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul, for startups and creators preparing for funding.
Maker Day is an educational and networking venue for all makers in Korea and the largest funding event held both online and offline since 2014. This year, as part of expanding the regional startup ecosystem, the event was held starting with Busan in August, followed by Daegu in October, and culminating in Seoul's Gangnam district.
The Busan and Daegu regional Maker Days drew approximately 650 attendees, with approximately 400 teams immediately opening funding projects, earning recognition for Maker Day as a stepping stone for funding preparation.
Eun Kyung Jeon, CEO of 'Tomin,' which succeeded in raising 500 million won through carbonated beverages made with regional agricultural products and natural ingredients, said in an interview with a media outlet: "I started without knowing the online business itself and learned the fundamentals and sales methods through Wadiz," and "When learning, you need to be proactive. I attended all Wadiz School lectures and consistently participated in meetings," emphasizing that Wadiz School played a significant role in her funding success.
This special year-end Maker Day event was held in Seoul's Gangnam district with the participation of over 220 companies. In particular, Jung Hoon Jang, CEO of 'Minding Master Group,' which achieved 500 million won in funding with 'Jewel Ice' (ice that doesn't melt) and subsequently secured retail store placement, ranking 1st at 'Wadiz Awards 2022,' took the stage as keynote speaker to share secrets to funding success.
As this was a special year-end Maker Day, a variety of benefits were prepared. A guidebook for successful fundraising was provided, and group consulting to help teams establish their funding direction was offered to those who pre-registered. Additionally, a prize recommendation event was held for attendees, featuring everything from 'Jinro Dispenser,' the most beloved product of 2022, to '1:1 Consulting Coupons.'
Min Young Jang, team lead at Wadiz who organized this event, stated: "Wadiz Maker Day began by meeting makers from all regions of the country and fulfilling their needs," and "It was meaningful to conduct the 2022 conclusion of Maker Day, which has been successfully held with applications filling up quickly each time, with the most people possible."
