Is KC certification required? Can't the project proceed while certification is in progress?

It is absolutely necessary for children's products, household items, broadcasting and telecommunications equipment, and electrical appliances.

Please note that if you do not go through the required KC certification, you may be subject to fines.

1. What is KC Certification?

• It is a certification system that serves as a national safety standard to verify product safety, helping consumers purchase with peace of mind.
  Consumers can check the quality and safety of products, such as whether harmful substances are contained or the sustainability of quality, through the KC certification mark.
• After the product and factory are reviewed, you can use the KC certification mark only after safety is confirmed.

There are various types, but they are largely classified into three categories.

• Radio certification (broadcasting and telecommunications equipment) subject to the Radio Act
• Electrical appliance safety certification and household item safety certification under the Electrical Appliances and Household Products Safety Control Act
• Children's product safety certification subject to the Special Act on Children's Product Safety

2. What happens if you don't get KC certification?

• It becomes impossible to sell or distribute domestically. If a product requires KC certification but is sold or distributed without KC certification, you may face legal penalties such as fines.
• If you are preparing a project on Wadiz, please check in advance whether it is a reward that requires mandatory KC certification and obtain it.

3. KC certification is still in progress. Can the project be started?

• Yes, you can. However, after the project succeeds, you must submit KC certification documents to send out the rewards.
  Please prepare the project according to the following steps.
  
  

1. Project submission: Please submit a receipt showing that the KC certification process is in progress.
2. After project succeeds: \n
   • You can only send out rewards after submitting the KC certification documents in Studio.
   • If it is difficult to submit through Studio, please submit KC certification documents to reward@wadiz.kr.
   • Please share the completion of KC certification through the News section to your supporters.

✅ Overseas Maker KC Certification Documents

Overseas makers with business registration certificates from countries other than Korea are exempt from the obligation to submit domestic statutory certification documents, including KC certification, when running projects on Wadiz.

※ However, if the business registration address registered in the maker account is in Korea, the same review standards as Korean makers apply.

Therefore, submission of the same statutory required documents as Korean makers, including business registration certificate, telecommunications sales notification, and KC certification, is required.
