Target amount setting guide
You'll find out when you read this
- When the operator sets the target amount, only the production cost should be considered for delivery, packaging, reserve cost (about 20% of the production cost), and platform fee.
- I've organized the items that need to be checked and the calculation formula so that you can set a realistic target amount.
- In particular, unlike the commerce sales target, please check what you must look at when setting the target amount of funding.
01. What is the target amount?
The target amount is the minimum amount needed to proceed with the project. It shouldn't be the 'amount I want', it should be the 'amount I can achieve realistically'.
Why is it important?
This is because the success of the project will be determined by whether you have recruited this target amount by midnight of the project's end date.
- If the target amount is too high: it's hard to achieve, so the project ends as it is, and supporter payments are not made.
- If the target amount is too low: You may have a hard time because it's not enough for the actual reward production.
Also, if you open the funding, the achievement rate is exposed to supporters. If the target amount is too high, the achievement rate will be low even if the same amount is collected, which can affect the supporter's decision to participate.
What to consider when it comes to profit-seeking projects
1. Will a penalty be given if the target amount is not met?
Even if you don't meet the target amount, there's no penalty. The project will be closed, and the supporter payment will not proceed. Therefore, there are no penalties or service use and settlement fees to be borne by the maker.
2. It's a product I used to sell in commerce, can't I set it as a selling price?
Funding is not the basis of sales, but the minimum cost basis required to actually produce and ship rewards. You have to calculate it backwards, including the fees, shipping costs, and reserves. If you set it as a selling price, there are cases where you actually lose money by missing fees and shipping fees.
3. What if the target amount and the actual payment amount are different?
Even if the actual payment amount is slightly lower than the target amount due to payment failure, etc., the project will remain a success. Therefore, it is important to set the target amount to a level that can provide a stable reward from the beginning. On the contrary, if you have greatly exceeded the target amount, you should check if the increased quantity can be produced and sent according to the promised schedule. If you need to adjust the schedule, you can let us know the reason for the delay and the progress through the new news.
02. 6 items to be included when calculating the target amount
In order to accurately calculate the target amount, you need to take into account not only the pure production unit price of making the product, but also the invisible expenditure such as shipping costs, reserve costs, and platform fees.
| category | Details | calculation formula |
| Rewards related expenses | Cost of production: the cost of actually producing a reward | Unit price per unit X minimum order quantity |
| Delivery cost: Shipping cost for sending to supporters | Unit price per unit X minimum order quantity | |
| Packaging costs: Costs related to packaging, such as boxes, cushioning materials, stickers, etc | Unit price per unit X minimum order quantity | |
| Labor costs: Workforce costs needed to carry out the project | Customized calculation required for each situation | |
| Spare money: costs to prepare for defects, additional manufacturing, and unexpected costs | about 20% of the production cost | |
| a wadiz fee | Service usage and settlement fees | |
03. Calculate the realistic target amount
When I'm not sure if the target amount I set is appropriate, I can check the amount that needs to be funded per day with the 'target amount ÷ funding days'.
- Target amount ÷ funding days = Amount to be funded per day
I'll show you an example when the target amount is 1 million won. Assuming that the project runs for 30 days, here's the amount that needs to be funded per day.
- 1,000,000 ÷ 30 days = KRW 33,333
If you feel this amount is possible, the target amount is appropriate. If it feels too much, lower the target amount, and if it feels too easy, raise it a little more.
04. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q. From what amount can I start with the target amount?
A. The target amount for Wadiz funding can be set from a minimum of 500,000 won to a maximum of 100 million won.
Q. Is it possible to change the target amount after opening?
A. You can modify the target amount before the funding opens, but you can't change it after the opening. Therefore, we need to thoroughly review it before opening.
Q. When designing rewards, how do I set the configuration and options, amount, shipping cost, etc?
A. You can set it up at the maker studio. Go to the Maker Studio > Project Management > Rewards tab and click the Add Rewards button. Please complete the usage guide that summarizes the specific method of writing for each item, setting method for each option configuration type, and precautions.

The target amount is the criterion for determining the success of the project, so you will have a lot of worries. But if you've followed me well so far, I can set it up without difficulty.
To give you a tip, take a look at a similar project. If you compare the target amount, the actual recruitment amount, and the number of supporters together, it will be very helpful in determining whether the amount you set now is appropriate.
