Rewardsare products or services provided to supporters as a token of appreciation for participating in your project. They’re not simply goods exchanged for money; they symbolize support for your project.
An outstanding product and a compelling Story are essential for a project’s success. When combined with well-designed, attractive Rewards, supporters are more likely to complete their payments quickly, and the total amount raised for the project can increase.
Basic Guide to Designing Rewards
Now, let’s set up your Rewards one by one by following the steps below!
First, go to Maker Studio > Project Management > the [Rewards] tab, then click the [Add a Reward] button!
1. Setting the Rewards Amount
Step 1. Set the Unit Price of the Rewards
Before registering Rewards, determine their price based on production costs and value.
- Cost-based pricing strategy:Set prices by considering the amount needed for product production
- You can offer price discounts to encourage supporter participation.
- Value-based pricing strategy:Set prices based onthe valueyou can offer to supporters
- If a product offers value that exceeds its production cost, setting an exceptionally low price may not be the most effective approach.
- Convey the value of your product and brand, and set a price that reflects that value.
Step 2. Designing High-Value Flagship Rewards
- We recommend setting the unit price of your flagship Rewards at 70,000 won or higher.
- If the average order value is too low, it will be difficult to raise a significant amount even with a large number of supporters; conversely, if it’s too high, the payment amount may seem burdensome, causing potential supporters to hesitate.
- Turn low-priced Rewards into high-value Rewardsby offering them as “bulk sets.”
- It’s even more effective to include a price discount when creating these sets.
Maker TIP! In successful projects, rewards averaging OO won were reserved for payment!

Step 3. Create a Single Reward
- Combining a single product or an experiential reward with a set reward can attract more supporters.
- Some supporters may find bundle rewards daunting during funding due to the large quantity and high unit price.
- Supporters who want to try the product first through funding of just a single item, or those living alone or in small households, may prefer smaller quantities.
- After supporters have tried the product through a single-item option and are satisfied, you can encourage them to participate in funding for the bundle Rewards during a follow-up campaign.
Step 4. Add Attractive Early Bird Benefits
- Early bird rewards are the surest way to boost initial funding results; they are designed so that the sooner you fund the project, the greater the price discount or additional gifts you receive.
- Participation in the first three days of funding after launch is so crucial that it can determine the project’s overall success.
- In fact, an analysis of successful wadiz projects showed that the funding raised during the first three days after launch accounted for approximately 54% of the total amount raised.
Here’s How to Make the Most of Early Bird Rewards!
- The more benefits you offer, the more you can attract attention by placing them at the top of the page where they’re most visible.
- You can divide the tiers into Ultra Early Bird > Super Early Bird > Early Bird.
- It’s more effective to include price discounts when creating reward bundles.
A large benefit isn’t necessarily the best option.
- Please adjust the scope of the Rewards so that you don’t offer them to the point where the Rewards price falls below the product’s cost.
- When designing the Rewards, it’s best to ensure the price differences between them aren’t too large.
- Otherwise, supporters who are funding the remaining Rewards may feel it’s unfair.

2. How to Name Your Rewards
The reward name is the most important piece of information for supporters to remember, so it’s effective to create it according to the formula below.
- [Early Bird Badge] + [Brand/Product Name] + [Contents]
- [Early Bird Badge] + [Set (Package) or Product Name] + [Product Name] + [Contents]
Please use consistent and accurate reward names so that supporters can easily find the rewards they read about in the Story at a glance.
- Please use consistent naming conventions so that each Reward can be easily distinguished from the others.
- When creating set rewards, giving them unique names based on the situation, duration, or quantity can help supporters remember them longer.
- While adding an “Early Bird” badge increases visibility, please do not include the “[Super Early Bird]” benefit name before the rewards name. Redundant information can actually obscure the rewards name.

➡️ What are Rewards options, and how do I set them up?
6. How to Set Quantity Limits
The quantity limit is the total number of units available for sale for the Rewards. and once the funding for that quantity is complete, supporters will no longer be able to select any of the Rewards.
Since this cannot be changed after the campaign goes live, please decide carefully when setting it up initially.
- Please carefully verify that you can deliver within the promised timeframe and that the quantities are appropriate for each reward.
- If you set the quantity too high, the remaining stock will appear large, which may make the reward seem less popular.
7. How do I set shipping terms?
- If the Rewards require shipping, be sure to check “Shipping” in the shipping section.
- If you do not check this box, we will not be able to verify the supporter’s address and will be unable to ship the Rewards.
8. How much should I set the crowdfunding shipping fee to?
- If shipping is free, enter 0 won; otherwise, please enter a specific amount.
- If a supporter funds multiple rewards at the same time, only the shipping fee for one reward (e.g., 3,000 won) will be charged, as if it were a combined shipment.
Are additional shipping fees required based on quantity or region?
- Please add a “Shipping Fee Reward” so supporters can select it along with their main reward.
- This will help reduce the hassle of having to notify every supporter individually about additional costs before shipping.
Please factor in shipping costs to remote and mountainous areas in advance!
➡️ Go to the Remote Area Shipping Cost Design Guide
- Please check in advance whether shipping is available to remote or mountainous areas (e.g., Jeju Island).
- If additional shipping fees apply depending on the region, be sure to add a “Shipping Fee Rewards” option.
Rewards Design Guide for Global Projects
1. You can set the countries where each Reward can be shipped to
- Within the same project, you can set different eligible countries for each Reward.
| Example) Project 12345 | |
|---|---|
| Rewards A | Rewards available worldwide |
| Rewards B | Korea-only Rewards |
| Rewards C | Rewards available only in the U.S. |
| Rewards D | Rewards available to participants in Korea, the U.S., and Japan |
- In this case, the types of Rewards displayed will vary depending on the country from which the supporter is viewing the project.
| Supporter's Country of Access | Rewards Displayed |
|---|---|
| South Korea | A, B, D |
| United States | A, C, D |
| Japan | A, D |
2. You can set different shipping fees for each Reward and each country
- You can set different shipping fees for each Reward based on the eligible countries specified for that Reward.
- You can set shipping fees for every Reward and country option.
- Please refer to the example below for a clearer understanding.

- We recommend setting the Rewards price and shipping costs with customs duties in mind.
- As a general rule, any taxes incurred during the customs clearance process are the responsibility of the overseas supporter.
- However, depending on the shipping carrier, shipping contracts are often concluded under terms that require the maker to bear the customs duties.
- To prepare for this, we recommend factoring the estimated customs duties into the Rewards amounts or shipping costs.
- For customs duties by country and product category, please refer to sources such as the Korea International Trade Association (KITA).
- Please refer to the guide below when setting international shipping fees.
➡️ Go to the International Shipping Costs Guide

3. You can manage English Rewards names and descriptions using the AI automatic translation feature.
- We’ll help you translate the names and descriptions of the Rewards you’ve written into English using our AI automatic translation feature.
- You can edit the translated names and descriptions of Rewards yourself in the Translation Management tab.

(Note) Rewards prices are displayed in the local currency of international supporters.
- On the supporter’s screen, Rewards prices are displayed in the currency of the country where the service is available.
- For the 24 recommended countries, prices are displayed in the local currency; for other countries, they are displayed in U.S. dollars.
- The exchange rate used for pricing is updated daily and reflected accordingly.
- However, payments are processed in Korean won and automatically calculated based on real-time exchange rates.
Tip!Strategies for Setting Shipping Fees to BoostConversion Rates
Include Shipping Costs in the Rewards Price
To increase participation rates among international supporters, it’s important to develop a strategy for how to present shipping costs!
You’ll want to ensure that no supporters drop out of the funding campaign due to shipping costs.
International supporters are sensitive to the total payment amount.
If shipping costs are added to the total payment amount right before checkout, it can give the impression that shipping is more expensive than the Rewards themselves, potentially causing supporters to drop out.
💡To prevent this, include shipping costs in the Rewards amount upfront.
| Category | Existing | Improved |
|---|---|---|
| Rewards Amount | 25,000 won | 40,000 won (including shipping) |
| Shipping Fee | 15,000 won | Free |
| Total Payment Amount | 40,000 won | 40,000 won |
This approach helps supporters realize, “I just need to pay this amount—no extra costs!”
💡Try using the following phrasing in your Rewards description
- Shipping fee included
- Shipped worldwide with no additional charges
- All prices are final and include shipping.
This clearly conveys the message to supporters: “Just pay the Rewards amount—no additional costs!”
💡Setting this up is simple
1. Check the average shipping costs for major countries
- Example) United States: 15,000 won / Japan: 8,000 won
2. Include shipping costs in the Rewards amount
- Example) Rewards 30,000 won + Shipping 15,000 won → 45,000 won
3. Add a note stating that shipping is included
- Rewards Name: [Shipping Included] Portable Tumbler Set
- Details Page: The Rewards amount shown includes international shipping fees. There are no additional charges at checkout!
4. Group countries with the same shipping costs together when designing your Rewards, and you’re done
- Example) United States, Brazil: 30,000 won / Japan, China, Vietnam: 25,000 won
Small differences lead to big results!
The “shipping included” strategy we recommend can positively impact everything from supporter satisfaction and checkout conversion rates to .
By showing consideration to international supporters by covering shipping costs, you’ll give them a solid reason to go through with their funding pledge!
Here’s what to do in these situations! Tips for designing rewards based on the situation
✔️ Try creating a bundle by adding related products.
- Rewards with few options may seem a bit bland.
- Try creating a special set reward by adding products related to your main reward.
- The maker could also add a sub-reward that’s one of their existing products—one they’re most confident in—and that’s related to the main reward.
✔️ Try creating a “bulk set” consisting of multiple individual items.
- Show the price per item and highlight Rewards set options that offer greater savings as you purchase more.
- Supporters might even look for friends to join them during funding so they can fund attractive Rewards at a lower price.
- It’s also a good idea to design the set to include an additional gift.
| [Example] |
![]() |
✔️ Structure your Rewards around related products and services.
- If the rewards are too different and lack a connection to one another, the consistency and appeal of your Story will inevitably suffer.
- This forces you to create a story with multiple themes, and a story that’s too long will cause supporters to lose interest.
- Structure the story so that the strengths and value of each reward are interconnected and conveyed as a single message. Selecting and focusing on specific rewards is essential.
Situation 3) Do your rewards include consumables?
✔️ Include accessories as additional Rewards.
- From the supporter’s perspective, this is a practical option because they won’t need to purchase consumables later and can receive benefits right when they participate in funding the project.
- From the maker’s perspective, this is a great way to increase the average funding amount.
| [Example] |
![]() |
Situation 4) Are the Rewards consumables?
✔️ Please specify the usage period.
- It’s a good idea to include terms like “3-month pack” or “10-day package” in the name or description of the Rewards.
- This allows supporters to clearly understand how long they can use the Rewards.
- It also conveys the sense that supporters are engaging in funding not just multiple items, but the duration during which they can use the Rewards.
